The rule about white after Labor Day? It’s dated, mostly. You can definitely wear a white jacket or pants outside of the span from Memorial Day to Labor Day, as long as you dress with some level of tact. Lucky for you though it’s almost that time of year so you can practice wearing sports jackets and vests that aren’t the typical grey, black, or navy.  In fact, jackets with light colors are currently popular. Patchwork plaid, white, tan, and other summery colors are definitely in this season.

And you can continue with this light color theme by choosing some pastels. The goal is to create balance. If you’re going to wear a light pastel button down, pick a neutral color jacket and pants combination. However, if you choose a dark shirt, you can brighten the wardrobe with pastel cotton or corduroy and boat shoes. Or you could pair a light jacket with a white or pastel tee and go casual chic.

No matter how you choose Spring fashion trends, these are definite winners right now.

I’m not quite sure who is to credit for these beautiful creations, but they’ve been floating around the internet today and I had to share. While these aren’t exactly your every day looks, they’d be pretty hot for a night out. Or maybe just to see if you can pull it off. Make up has truly become an art form as of late! Destination Maternity offers a large selection of clothing, from tops to dresses to lingerie to swimsuits, at affordable prices.  Considering you might not be wearing these again, most women can’t afford to look for high designer clothing. Even if you plan on having another child in a few years, today’s fashion choices will most likely be long gone. But a word of advice, choose only a few styles that you assume will be gone tomorrow and stock up on basics that never go out of style. It’s not like you’ll get a ton of use out of them, so you might as well keep it simple.

Now that summer is finally here it’s time to turn all your jeans into cut offs and let it all hang out. Men’s fashion this summer is all about overexposing yourself. If you can walk past an all-girl elementary school without getting arrested for indecent exposure to a minor than you are doing something wrong. Let’s review some of the hot fashion items you will need this season.

Shorts are a must. And they simply must be extremely short. I say a good rule of thumb is that the short can end about 2” after the penis ends. Short-shorts are not just for ladies anymore, boys. When it comes to shirts I would go with a button down shirt but make sure to only button the bottom two buttons. Any button above the belly button does not get closed not matter what. Office, funeral, you don’t close that shirt for anyone.

As for accessories anything with pot leaves and crystals is in. Hair wise you want to go as long as possible without washing your hair. The greasy look is in. If you hair starts to smell just have friend blow some smoke into it to mask the aroma. As for shoes, just go barefoot it’s a bold fashion statement.

Even though the major event happened a few nights ago, people are still talking about the best and the worst dressed attendees. While it’s always fun to praise the best dressed, I’m going to spend some time on the worst.

Unfortunately, there were a lot of fatal fashion faux pas, this year, starting with one of the most promising fashion designers known to date, Mark Jacobs. Mark chose to make a bold statement in a black, lace dress. This isn’t the first time a man showed up on the red carpet in a dress, but it is a first for his accessory choice. The white boxers were a mistake.

Next we have Kirsten Dunst. For those of you who don’t know, Kristen is only 30 years old. Therefore, there is no reason she should be dressing like a first lady from the 1940s. The vintage vibe is always a plus, but this tangerine ensemble made her look too old. Not to mention, her suit clashed with the red carpet. Rookie mistake.

Last, but certainly not least, is Florence Welch. This surprised me because I always admire an Alexander McQueen piece. To me, Florence kind of resembled one of those tissue-paper wedding bell decorations. Between the enormous bell sleeves and feathery tassles, there were too many fashion dos that created the fashion don’t.

• Wellies are a fun and useful rain and all around bad weather footwear. They’re made of rubber so they won’t ever leak and they come in a variety of bright and dark colors to match your clothes. They are quite resilient and remain popular due to their European appeal.

• Umbrellas are there mostly for convenience and protection but nobody says you can’t buy a reasonable one– if you get a good one it will protect your nice clothes underneath. Not to mention you can be the one person with the unique or cool one. Try a bubble umbrella for extra rain protection.

• Find a coat made of a slick material such as plastic, nylon, rubber or similar material. Anything that whisks away moisture or has water-resistant or wax coating will be a life-saver. The last thing you need is for the rain to drench through the outerwear. Stowaway ponchos, parkas, trench coats, and windbreakers are all great options.

Remember that this is only just a little bit (or maybe a lot of) rain. It’s only a deterrent but it shouldn’t spoil any plans you had so keep dressing for whatever occasion.

So how do I plan on keeping fashionable while still wearing ride appropriate wear?

First, dresses can totally be done, they just have to be a good length and paired with comfortable flats or even sneakers. Converse can be cute with almost any dress. Even if you don’t want to wear a dress while sight seeing or what have you, it is always good to pack one for nightlife or heading to a nice dinner. There will definitely be one in my bag.

Shorts are needed for hot weather, right? But don’t ruin it with ill fitting shorts just because you are a tourist. Choose fun fabric shorts with patterns, or that perfect denim pair. Pack a few and some light, flowing blouses and you’ll be cool and comfortable.  Floral shorts are still going strong, so they are a great choice.

Every girl would love to pack a ton of shoes, but there’s just no room for it. Also, the more shoes you pack, the more weight holding you down. Limit it to a fair 3: Sneakers for most of your walking, flip flops for any beach or poolside activities, and one pair to dress things up. Flats work great for this, but if you are a heel gal, pick one and go for it.

Don’t forget that accessories are small and therefore easy to pack. You can bring plenty of necklaces and bracelets without taking up more than a tiny corner of your suitcase. So if you really want to jazz up an otherwise plain outfit, go for it!

The first thing you should do is to stop washing your clothes so often. This may sound counter productive but washing is the fastest way to ensure the breakdown of the fibers that make up that favorite t-shirt. If you wore that cardigan once and it doesn’t have stains on it, wait another wear or two before you throw it in the laundry. Keep clothes you’ve previously worn looking nice by using a lint roller, wearing deodorant (so they don’t stink!), and always keep a tide pen on you.

Tide pens are the best way to keep your clothes from becoming stained. If you drop a meatball on your favorite skirt at lunch, you can keep it from staining by the time you get home from work.

Another tip is to keep all of the buttons that come with your shirts and jackets. Keep them in a safe place where you’ll know to find them later and when that last button on your favorite dress shirt pops off, you’ll have a replacement and won’t need to throw it out.

According to Kanye West’s Twitter, there are number “fashion faux-pas”  that just gets under his skin. It’s been quite some time since he’s gone on a rant, but this past Saturday saw its triumphant return as he walked down the streets of New York City. We New Yorkers are known for our eclectic taste when it comes to fashion. Some of it’s good, some of it’s bad, some is really really bad, but we wouldn’t be the greatest city in the world if we didn’t march to our own beat. Check out the list of fashion styles that irks Mr. West:

1. Button-up shirts with hoods.
2. Hoods with sports coats.
3. Sports coats with button-up shirts, jeans, and dress shoes.
4. Khaki trench coats with jeans and off brand work out sneakers.
5. Khaki cargo shorts.
6. Big ass striped scarves.
7. Long ass sideburns with line up RnB beard.

Maybe he has a point on some of these items, but I passionately dislike Kanye Wayne. I also passionately despise people telling me how to dress. We can guide people all they want on good fashion, but at the end of the day, people are going to wear what they want to wear. And New York wouldn’t be quite the same if all the men dressed according to Kanye’s style.

The time between extreme heat and extreme cold seem to bring out the worst fashion trends in people. It’s like they get their style tips from seventeen magazine. This is appropriate if you’re a tween or an early teen standing in line for the newest Justin Bieber album but I have to tell you that if you’re above the age of 12 and you wear Ugg boots and shorts, you look ridiculous.

This is the time where you can look classy. Try a classic trench coat. A fashionable fedora won’t go amiss. And obviously, with the showers from April carrying into May, get yourself a pair of rain boots. Not Uggs. They can still be fun boots. But not Uggs. You look ridiculous. Less ridiculous?
