Wu joins other notable designers, such as Missoni, who have created affordable, sophisticated designs Target customers. Last year’s Missoni collection was a huge success, and it seems that Wu’s collection will enjoy the same recognition. The fifty-three piece collection is reportedly inspired by Wu’s passion for French new-age film.His designs consist of clean lines and intricate details, which are enhanced against solid prints.

There were certain traits, such as blue tones and wide, loose collars, which dominated the collection. These designs are modern twists on classic Chanel looks of the past.  Fashionably funky tweed pants and skirts suits were also popular as were bubble sleeves, and ruffles and other 3D, texturized fabrics.

While some of these ensembles were obviously over-the-top ensembles, many of the looks could be obviously and easily translated into less outrageous, more accessible looks. This is largely the appeal of any Chanel collection; while it is bold and over-the-top on the runway, it still appears like doable fashion to the audience at the show and abroad. Although these ensembles were accented by spiky hairdos and towering heels, their innate elegance was not overwhelmed by these accessories.

At Paris Fashion Week 2012, Chanel once again showcases a classic, elegant collection that any fashionista may imagine herself wearing.

My favorite item is definitely the Izzy classic pump. The shoes are available in either black or rouge; personally, I really want the pumps in rouge. They are available for $120, which a coworker thinks is less than the original price. I am going to wait a week before I adore them and see if the price goes down again.

Everything in the Mad Men collection was designed in collaboration with the television series’ costume designer, Janie Bryant, so the clothing literally looks like it was taken from the show.

Within a few hours I saw a guy on a unicycle and a few minutes after that an adult on some sort of “steam punk” motorized skateboard. These “wacky” modes of transportation underscored their chosen fashion choices. Unicycle guy had a handlebar mustache that would Raleigh Fingers blush, he was shirtless with suspenders and a beret. The steam-punk idiot was even worse choosing to wear a metallic chest plate and the weirdest shaped/filthiest mow-hawk I have ever seen.

Basically it was a lesson in fashion don’ts without any dos. Just cause you live in a cool neighborhood does not mean all of your fashion choices wise ones.

1. The Trapper Hat: Otherwise known as the Russian hat, this is a great fashion accessory because it is so practical. Few articles of clothing keep you as warm while allowing you to wear fur. What’s not to love?

2. Wool Cashmere Scarves: These scarves are a must for the winter season. Because wool can be itchy, it’s good to find a blend with cashmere, the softest of the soft. That keeps your neck warm and cozy. Tip: it’s best when you can find one with animal prints.

Not just for French class, this winter seems to have started a Beret renaissance. These are great for winter because they look classic and chic and are often made of wool, which is winter-weather friendly.

Knitted Hats:

These have always been a staple in winter wear and are more poplar than ever. If you’re tired of the plain version, you should try to find one adorned with applique flowers or beads, or one in a bright color.

Fedora:

The classically cool fedora looks great with casual or work attire. You can pull this hat off in rain, sleet or snow. Either way it has you covered in both the style and weather-protection departments.

Paris Hilton or Angelina Jolie can probably tell the difference between a knockoff Gucci purse and the real deal, but what are the odds of running into somebody like that?

Most people are oblivious to the differences between authentic and knockoff products. About a year ago, I bought my mom a knockoff Gucci purse, and I can’t tell you how many compliments she’s received – “OMG, you have a Gucci!” It’s a very chic bag, made out of black leather with sequins and a gold G charm hanging on the front zipper.

Most of the time, real items and fakes look so similar that it’s impossible to tell which is which. Of course, you want to make sure your purchase isn’t too far off – for example, if you’re looking for a Chanel purse that only comes in black, but you find a knockoff red version, such a slip might give you away to some people.
