In two weeks I’ll be heading to a themed party in Brooklyn. It’s a Noir/ Pulp Fiction party and shopping for 1960s style dresses and shoes has been a bit of a task, or at least it was until I broadened my horizons. I was looking too much to actually buying vintage at first, but with all of the designers who have put out vintage styles with modern prices, it’s been easier to find what I’m looking for. Now, I can’t even seem to narrow down which dress I’d like!
When shopping for a themed party, it is key to do the same. For a really rich, great look, don’t go with costumes. While they are cheap and easy, it’s going to show that you didn’t put much thought into your outfit. If it’s a theme around an older decade, try places like Modcloth.com or Pinupgirls.com for pieces that match. If it’s a particular genre, like sci-fi or fantasy, take that creativity and put it to good use. There are many open interpretations to these kind of things, so keep an open mind!
When it comes to fashion for themed parties, embrace something totally different from what you would normally wear!
